FAQ – Frequently asked membership questions

Is there a minimum age to become a member?

No, anyone can join Volt regardless of age. The only thing we ask is if you are under 18 for a parent or guardian to sign the parental consent document during the sign up process.

Do I have a vote?

Yes. After having paid the membership fee and when the application is fully processed, you’ll have a vote in meetings and assemblies.

Can I stand in elections?

Every Volter can stand as a Volt candidate in local, national and European elections.

I am already a member of another political party. Can I join Volt?

Yes, with the current electoral system in the UK we encourage you to use your influence in other parties to promote pro-European pragmatism.

I can’t become an official member. Can I still help out?

Yes! Everyone keeping the same values as we do is very welcome. You can still volunteer without becoming an official member or you can become a Friend of Volt UK. With this membership level you don’t have a vote and you can’t stand for elections as a Volt candidate. But you can contribute by paying the yearly fee and come to our meetings.
